Elaine Stritch @The Old Vic

This show is history in the making. So in common with other comments on this webpage- DO NOT MISS OUT. Not only is Stritch the last of the truely great theatrical performers ( enough of a reason on it's own to see her ), the show is a fascinating look at the american theatre of the past 50 years. To hear it all from someone who was there is a truely special experience.
If you are put off by the seat prices, don't be. I resisted booking in advance and picked up an excellent seat for 1/2 price at TKTS in Leicester Square- £40 for £20 plus £2.50 service charge. The show is doing good business but does not appear to be a sellout ( Friday and Saturday nights will naturally be very popular ), so I think it will feature regularly at TKTS. Of course you can only buy on the day, so it's a chance you take. With so many highlights, it's difficult to pick one. But to hear The Ladies who Lunch sung to perfection by the only performer who can sing it, was a privilege indeed.
The CD is an excellent sampler, but is not the complete performance- SO GO!!

Agree with everything you say Johnno (but I can spell truly!)I too got 2 tickets half price in third row stalls. Fantastic.
But why such a condescending and poor review from Lyn Gardner of The Guardian? Billington is one of the best critics around so who is this Gardner woman?
