Follies showgirl in pink dress mystery solved
Some time ago Gordon wrote "One thing which I noticed - who was the 9th showgirl? We had Sally, Phyllis, Solonge, Hattie, Carlotta, Stella, Heidi and Emily but there was one other woman dancing in the line up - in a pink dress - anyone got any ideas?"
When I was at The Bridewell on Sunday for TRYDT (excellent) I got chatting, as is my wont, to various people, one of whom turned out to be the actress who was the woman in the pink dress. I asked her about it and she explained that she had originally been brought in late to cover when one actress was unable to walk down the stairs because of an injury (I think I remember Paul Kerryson mentioning that when we met him)and then had covered for someone else who had a problem. Then they decided that they would like to keep her in anyway.
By the way, the pink frock was her own as by the time she was cast the costume budget had been spent! She was cast as Christine and would have had some lines to say but they had already been given to another cast member.
